7 Things That Anxiety Disorder Sufferers Should Do When Dealing With Stress

This world is stress-ridden

This world is stress-ridden. In some western countries, for example, the USA, it is estimated that over 70% of the workforce suffer from stress. How then can you combat stress especially if you suffer from anxiety as well?

Identify stressors

In many cases, the causes of stress may be more than one. As a first step in fighting stress, it is necessary to identify events or experiences that may be causing your stress. Many people find it useful to keep a daily record of all activities, events and experiences that they find stressful, be it at work, in the family or at school. If you keep such a daily record, from time to time you can go through it, reviewing each stressor and deciding how best to manage it. Keeping a record is also advantageous because it helps you remember all you stressors should you decide to consult a therapist or counselor about your stress.

Also as you go through your daily record, reviewing each occasion, event and experience that stresses you, look out for quick wins. Quick wins are those stressors simple enough for you to quickly and decisively get rid of by yourself. As for those stressors beyond your ability to solve on your own, seek help from therapists and counselors or from anyone you deem capable.

Exercise

Mental and physical exercise is recommended for all of us. It helps shift our minds from our daily worries and thereby enabling us to relax. For the average person, 30-60 minutes of daily moderate exercise is recommended.

Health eating

We are what we eat. If we want to be vibrant and strong individuals, then we should eat healthy. Research generally recommends a diet that is rich in vegetables and fruit, moderate in meats and low in oils and carbohydrates. Also stay away from bad eating habits such as skipping meals, binge eating and snacking through out the night.

Sleep enough

Insomnia and insufficient sleep can contribute to stress and predispose you to anxiety. Researchers recommend around 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night. Remember that a comfortable bed, a dark environment, good exercise, being anxiety-free and having a set time for going to bed all contribute to a healthy and refreshing sleep.

Stay positive

There is more than enough going on in the world to turn us into negatively minded souls. However, negative thinking worsens stress and anxiety disorders. So even when the reality is too ghastly to contemplate, it is not the end of the world; you are a worthy person. Don't give up on yourself.

Have a work-life balance

Don't let the demands of your work take up all your time. You need time to pursue relaxing interests outside work. You need enough time to be with your loved ones.

Allowing work to take precedence over everything else in your life can stress relationships. Both wives and husbands need attentive partners. Children want their parents to be there for them when they need them.

Don't push yourself too hard

As you work, listen to your body. Know the tolerance threshold of your body. Work less hours if you have to. Look around for jobs that allow you to enjoy a comfortable life-style without breaking your back.

Ultimately, if you suffer anxiety disorders, aim to fight them and get rid of them. Anxiety disorders impair our ability to withstand stress. You will find a lot of information on my website on anxiety disorders and natural anxiety disorder therapies (See website address below).
