Summer can seem to go on forever when it is hot and humid. The heat changes the way we think, logic can go out the window and we will try and do anything to keep fresh and cool.
Popular options to reverse the effects of summer are often taking a cold shower, or closing up your house and sitting inside with your house air con working to the maximum to keep you cool.

1. Start a water fight Water guns and water balloons are the preferred weapons of choice, but really anything can be used in this type of warfare. 2. Go for a swim Often the beach can be one of the hottest places of all during summer. However, making your way to a water park, public swimming pool, or if you are lucky enough to have a pool in your backyard invite some friends around and enjoy a day in the pool.
3. Enjoy some frozen ice blocks A healthy option compared to ice cream and will not leave you feeling sick in the summer heat. Very cheap to make yourself, simply use some fruit juice or lemonade soft drink and poor into a glass or ice block mould. Place in the freezer, push in a spoon to use as a handle if needed and wait for them to freeze overnight. It is a good option to make a large bunch at a time as they will keep for weeks in the freezer.
4. Visit a park There is something about watching a lazzy summers afternoons pass you by from the comfort of a blanket under a shady tree in a park. Take a good book, a few magazines, a loved one or even your iPod with a picnic basket full of cold food and drinks and you will be enjoying life without being concerned about the summer's heat.
5. Catch a movie Go to the movies and watch the longest movie you can find. A guaranteed way to ensure you are cool for at least two hours in the comfort of the cinemas air conditioning.
6. Go shopping Sorry guys, but often heading to your nearest shopping mall is a good option to stay cool in summer.
7. Go Ice Skating If you are lucky enough to have a ice rink nearby, head straight to it. The ice rink will be the coldest place in town and if you are not in the mood to strut your stuff on the ice, you can always sit in the grandstand and watch everyone fall over!
8. Go to the office Keep this one as a last resort, but often making your way to the office where you can sit in air conditioned comfort when others are not around is a great idea. It will let you catch up on some work so you will not be as stressed later in the week when deadlines are looming over your head.
If you know how to avoid the summers draining heat, it can often be a great time of year to have some fun and do a few things you would not do during the winter months.
