A trampoline with enclosure is the perfect present for children. People often tell me how they become the centrepiece for children's parties and family gatherings. They will keep children entertained for hours and unlike many kid's toys these days, gets them outside and active.

Trampolines that don't come with an enclosure of this side should definitely be avoided. I have heard too many horror stories to ever recommend buying one. 8 foot is just about the smallest size of trampoline you are likely to find. There are 6ft models, but they are only suitable for very young children, playing on their own. You can just about get 2 small children onto an 8ft trampoline, but take it easy and never leave them to play unsupervised.

All the big names in the trampoline world such as Plum, Telstar, Jump King, Rebo and Octa Jump have 8ft models to choose from. I've picked out what I believe to be the best of the lot.

Octa Jump hold the title of being top of the range in this size bracket and deservedly so. The build quality, which is so vital to the performance, longevity and safety of trampolines, is outstanding. The finish, which is often lacking in trampolines, is a pleasure to behold and gives the model a look of real quality. The Plum 8ft model was a close contender and this has the advantage of lots of extras, such as a ladder, shoe net and securing ground pegs (get more details on our website).

At the opposite end of the scale the Telstar model is a very cheap trampoline. This is no bad thing though and it gets the kids bouncing for not much over 100 which is truly amazing value. Obviously it doesn't look as nice as the Octa Jump or the Plum and the build quality isn't as good, but you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to trampolines.
