Westerpark was named as such because of the beautiful park that dominates its landscapes, filled with strategic waterscapes and people lounging around with picnic baskets, kids running around the lined trees and adults reading a book or chatting the day away. Aside from its main feature though, Westerpark, Amsterdam also offers tourists many galleries, restaurants, cafes, cinemas and structures which surround the park. First off, when its unique architecture that youre looking for, head on to Amsterdam School and Silodam. Silodam is a fascinating building to watch especially since it looks suspended on water and was designed by one of the most famous architectural greats, MVRDV. After which, get some snacks or coffee at WestergasTerras with a nice view coming from their big terrace or to Rainarai for that interesting Algerian cooking. If youre on a budget, head on to Caf Restaurant Amsterdam, a historic structure which was once a 1900s engine room, now a favorite hangout place of Amsterdammers in Westerpark. Have fun!

Everything Amsterdam has to offer is encapsulated in its Centrum. For one, the Royal Palace of Amsterdam is situated there, one of the four palaces which is used by Queen Beatrix of Netherlands. Once closed, the palace is now fully open to serve tourists as of last year for those interested to see where royalty resides. Theres also Bloemenmarky, the worlds only floating market which sells mostly flowers. Tourists will also love the different souvenirs found at the market for affordable rates. Then of course, theres the Van Gogh Museum where the largest collection of the Dutch Painters works are found. Aside from the main museum, Centrum also has many museums hidden in its canals, small museums which are kept by private residences and other small organizations also worth the visit. Theres also Anne Franks House in Prisengracht 263 where she lived in the hidden room until their family was found and led to concentration camps. Centrum has so many shops and restaurants to stop by in along the way, so be sure to bring lots of pocket money and a ravenous stomach along the way.

Sandy Escapades on the Beaches of Amsterdam

Whether its for a lively party scene or a serene day with the family, the beaches of Amsterdam provide a refreshing escape from the city. Beaches down the North Coast are an easy escape outside of the city quite convenient to go to using public transportation or through a short drive. In the North, there are great resorts such as Bloemendaal and Zandvoort which give off a great ambiance for a lively nightlife affair or lounging around in their pavilions. There are also bars and restaurants found in their 40 or so pavilions. Bloemendaal is by far the most popular among partygoers with live music, DJs and a Bohemian lifestyle. There are also other nearby beaches which arent as crowded such as Egmond aan Zee, Castricum and Schoorl. The first is the nearest beach from the village and is also quite close the shopping district of Amsterdam.
