A Baby Monitor To Monitor Babys Breathing Gives Peace Of Mind
There are sensor baby monitors (also called respiratory baby monitors)
. These offer peace of mind by immediately alerting the parent if their baby's breathing becomes significantly uneven or even stops completely.
Audio baby monitors fall into two further types: analogue and digital. Analogue baby monitors traditionally were subject to lots of interference from other household items that gave off a wireless signal. While this still can be true of cheaper analogue monitors, today most have more than one channel enabling you to select one that is interference free and incorporate technology that lessens outside interference.
Instead of getting an audio-only baby monitor, it is better to go for a baby monitor with a camera, so you can actually visualize your baby's activities. These come either black & white or color (usually color costs more). Picture quality varies, especially in low-light conditions. Since your baby is probably going to be sleeping in a darkened room, check that the low-light picture quality is sufficient.
One of the main uses of baby monitors is when the child is asleep in a separate room you can have peace of mind. Make sure to take the size of your home into account. Some baby monitors have more of a limited range than others, and have trouble transmitting through thick concrete walls. Larger homes on more than one level may require something more sophisticated. In a small home, a simple monitor should be sufficient.
A video baby monitor device features a simplex radio transmitter and receiver system. This system includes a microphone, which is positioned near you baby so it can pick up sounds that your baby is making, and a receiver (with a speaker), which you can carry around the house with you. Many video baby monitors nowadays have self-filtering microphones for superior sound clarity.
Movement sensors are another option. These work with a pad that is placed under your baby while they sleep. If no movement is detected, an alarm sounds. Some monitors even allow you to monitor your baby's temperature while they sleep.
