A Barrelful Of Fairground Fun At The Annual Stuttgart Spring Festival

Held between the period of mid April and May, the Stuttgart Spring Festival or Stuttgarter

Frhlingsfest is Europes biggest annual spring festival by a country mile. Welcoming the world to its scenic landscapes, the residents of this German city see an influx of 1.5 million fellow merrymakers on average during the festival season. And it is no by coincidence that Stuttgart remains the continents most popular venue for harking in the season of spring as the city delivers a no holds barred carnival like atmosphere complete with fairground attractions, fine food and all kinds of revelry.

With an area of 4.2 hectares in the heart of the city, the Cannstatter Wasen fair grounds is the venue of choice for the festival each year as it finds itself filled to overflowing with beer tents, fairground rides, rollercoasters, food stalls and musical events providing hours of entertainment for the whole family. These include the festivals iconic 47 meter Ferris wheel, the Double-looping roller coaster and other highlights such as the Whirligig, Bumper Car and Log Flume. Childrens rides with the likes of Shake, Dream Flight", Wilde Maus" and Transformer" are also available while both young and adult visitors will enjoy Star Flyer, Hell Blitz", Looping the Loop, Turbo Force" and Break Dance in addition to "Reitsalon" and the "Schwaben Derby".

The festival also offers guests the opportunity to witness a spectacular musical firework display while the Balloon Glow is another event that is looked forward to by seasoned visitors. Each Wednesday is dubbed Family Day at the festival and it includes special discounts on rides and other festival programs for parents and kids. The food counters that dot the fairground are heavy with the aroma of carnival staples such as cotton candy, crunchy Gckele and sugary almonds while scrumptious snacks and treats are found at every turn. The old school Chandler's Market is another feature that garners a great deal of attention as it sells everything from spices and home ware to leather, fabrics and jewellery and serves as the perfect venue in which to spend an afternoon browsing through quirky trinkets.
