No matter how hard you have been trying to maintain your food but without combining it with exercise is kind of useless. Exercising is certainly an important part of getting fit and healthy but it isn't all there is. Real fitness is more than just going for a run or lifting weights once in a while. You need to be smart in every part of your life if you really want to get fit. As you get older, leading a healthy lifestyle and being in good shape becomes more important. This is also one of the lowest impact sports you can do. That means that even though you are working your muscles, the wear and tear to your body is minimal. This is because the water takes your weight out of the workout--you work your muscles without your body weight impacting the success of the workout itself. Another major benefit of swimming is that it is fun!
If you like a particular athletic activity--join in when it is played. Dance classes are a great way to work out, burn calories and have fun (all at the same time). Join a class for water aerobics. Take up hiking and rock climbing. These are all activities that you can do to help yourself get fit while still having a lot of fun. If you have fun with your workout routine you will have more success with it. You are more likely to skip out on a workout if you don't like the routine that you are doing.
