A Biography About Mark Zuckerburg

. The man behind Facebook is Mark Zuckerberg who recently shot to fame in the film The Social Network which went through the origins of Facebook. He was also the worlds youngest Billionaire as Facebook became the biggest website in the world.

Zuckerberg was born on the 14th march 1984 in White Plains, New York. His parents are called Karen and Edward Zuckerberg who worked as a Psychiatrist and a Dentist respectively. He was brought up Jewish and had his Bar Mitzvah when he turned 13. In his recent days he now classes himself as an atheist. He attended Ardsley School in which he excelled and stood out as a bright pupil before he was transferred to Phillips Exeter Academy in his junior year. He carried on excelling whilst at school at received awards in Science, Math, Astronomy, Physics and Classical Studies. When he applied for college he claimed he could read and write in the following languages: English, Hebrew, Latin, French and ancient Greek. Whilst at college he also excelled in fencing and he was the captain of this team due to his success.

He became interested in computer programming and software writing whilst at middle school and his father taught him Atari BASIC programming. When his father realized his sons potential he hired a private tutor called David Newman. Newman later stated that Zuckerberg was a natural and sometimes it was hard to stay ahead of him.

Zuckerberg enjoyed developing communication tools and games. His fathers dental office operated from his home and Zuckerberg developed a program that allowed all of the computers between the house and the office to communicate by pinging each other. He called this piece of software ZuckNet. He really enjoyed developing software and would do this on a regular basis. One person was quote in saying Children his age play games, Zuckerberg builds them and this was true. His friends would often come to his house and draw something and then from that Zuckerberg would try and create a game and he often succeeded.

During his High school years he developed a program called Synapse. This program was a music player that recorded peoples listening habits and it became that popular that Microsoft tried to purchase the software and recruit Zuckerberg. Thankfully he rejected the offer so he could enrol at Harvard University in 2002. By the time he had enrolled at Harvard he had established himself as a successful software developer and many people knew his name.

He studied in Psychology and Computer Science but it was what went on outside of his classes that made him who he is today. During a drunken night in his room he decided to copy the idea of the website HotorNot which compared two items and let users rate them. With this he made Facemash which was a website that got two images of Harvard students and let users rate them. To get the images that he wanted he hacked into the Harvard security system and obtained photos of every student.

This site was developed over a weekend but then on the Monday morning Harvard took the website down because it was overloading their network switches. As well as this Zuckerberg face 3 charges for breaking University rules. These charges were breach of security, breach of copyright and breach of student privacy. These charges were later dropped when he convinced 3 Harvard seniors that he was going to create a social network called the Harvard Connection.

He then broke this promise and made The Facebook. This website was initially launched on 4 February 2004 for Harvard students but it rapidly grew. As it grew the Harvard seniors said Zuckerberg had breached their trust which he sort of did but this did not limit its growth. He later spread the website to other universities as the demand for the website grew.

Zuckerberg later moved to company to Pan Alto, California where they rented a small house which act as an office for the website. By this point the website was open to everyone and was attracting attention from all over the world. According to reports an unnamed media corporation offered to buy Facebook from Zuckerberg but he declined the offer. He later said it was not because of the amount of money offered but it was that he wanted to keep it free and open and he felt a media company would not allow this. Facebook later move to their first office in mid-2004.

In 2007 the 3 Harvard seniors that claimed Zuckerberg tricked them filed a lawsuit claiming he misused their trust. This lawsuit was thrown out but it later reappeared in a Boston High Court and it ended with Facebook transferring 120 Million shares and $20 million. He also faced lawsuits from various other sources with Eduardo Saverin wanting to be given credit for helping to create Facebook, he later won his case. Facebook is still growing rapidly and is likely to hit 1 billion users in the coming months.

On May 19th 2012 got married to his long term partner Chan. This wedding was kept secret until it had finished and he announced his marriage by changing his relationship status on Facebook to married.
