The amount of work depends on the place that the medical assistant is working in. If it is a large establishment then the duties most definitely will be direct and they would have to report to a senior or head medical assistant and take orders from them. Whereas in a smaller establishment a single medical assistant might be responsible for multiple tasks and he/ she would have to be directly associated with the head physician and take orders from them. In smaller establishments a single medical assistant might be responsible for both clinical and administrative work and help in the smooth running of the establishment for example a small specialized clinic.
