A Brief Note About The Condition Of Christians In China & The Christian Churches
It is quite common throughout the world that, in any country
, it is the minorities who suffers a vast deal. In China, Christians are the majority and, so, it is natural that they also have to suffer under the same circumstances in China. The root of the conflict between the Chinese and Christian dates back to the seventeen century, when Kangxi, the king of Qing Dynasty first banned Christanity from his country. During the fight for independence in China, the Kuomintang party destroyed many Christian churches and made these places their headquarters. Even Chinese Christians were severely punished for embracing Christianity. The questions like breaking church in china or persecution of Christians still haunt the minds of many common people. It is seen from the news available about this subject is that the rate of religious persecution in China is less rampant than it was in the past. In the 70s, the population of Christians in China was about 3 million, but presently it has increased into 30 million. Government attitude towards Christians is much improved than past times.
While Christianity is undergoing through a crisis in the west, it is in the Asian countries like China and India, that Christianity is getting greater attraction of mass. The level of contradiction is, despite all these facts, is worse. In China, there are some places in which Christians are no longer treated as criminals, but at the same time, a great number of Christian population in China face persecution solely because of their religious faith. In many sectors like education department, high official posts, there are instances, which show that religious faith is the reason for which many Christians have not been allowed to own a high post. Of course, there are instances of governments showing a bit liberal attitude towards Christian population. But the pain and fear, through which they have to fight to lead a respectable life, is tougher than the facilities they have been granted.
Persecution of Christians has become a matter of concern for the Christian minorities.
Chinese government allows practicing religion to Christians, but the authorial body controls the whole affair with a tight grip. Chinese government only allows any Christian religious gatherings at the churches, which have a permit from the government. There are several house churches in China, a preferred option for the Chinese Christians to worship, but presently both
church in China and the practitioners of Christianity, both are undergoing tremendous pressure from the government. Persecution of Christians has become again rampant in some areas of China. People who are regular visitors in the church of China is fearing to be entrapped in the persecution at any time because of the anti-Christian policy of the authority. Christian leaders want direct communication and meeting with the officials having responsibility of looking after all religious things in China. Though there is an upsurge of Christian population day by day, the rigid and unfriendly attitude of the government towards the Christians is a serious matter of concern for the religious heads.
