A Cheat Sheet to Choosing Your Next Conferencing Provider
There are a ton of conferencing companies out there - some good, some not so much, some squarely in-between. They all offer different services and tweaks to try and stand out from each other.
At AccuConference, we like to think we're high up on the good list (hey, we're biased, okay!) but just in case you're not sure why you should use us, here's a cheat sheet of what to look for in a good conferencing company.
Being Reliable
What's the key use of conferencing software or platforms? Being able to communicate with others that can't be in the same place. It doesn't matter if it's audio, web or video conferencing - it's the same all the way through. You're using conferencing to communicate.
So you want to make sure the company you use is reliable, not just themselves but the service they provide as well.
One of the ways you can ensure this is by using a provider with a hard conference platform, as opposed to a cloud one. What this means is you're using cable and phone line connections, as opposed to purely Internet ones.
Not only is the quality better, but the uptime is better too. We all know how fragile Internet connections can be - the last thing you want to do is lose a prospect because your Internet connection froze.
Back-Ups Can Save You
This should be a no-brainer, but making sure you can continue your conference even if your provider has problems is key.
One of the things we do is have a series of fail-safe back-up procedures in place, so that should we encounter any issues, you won't.
These include conference bridges, so we can transfer your conference to another server if yours fails, as well as multiple access points so you're not limited by geography or reach of your provider. Simply put, we could host your call in Europe from a server in Alaska.
Database Control
We all know things happen that are beyond our control, and often we just accept that and write things off. But you don't, or shouldn't need to.
One of the ways a good conference provider can make sure your service is given priority is by having the ability to control national communication databases. This means, should a national carrier experience problems and lose its network, you can quickly and almost seamlessly be transferred to another carrier.
It's not cheap, but it's not super expensive either - and it makes sure your call is always-on.
