The easy conclusion to come to is that men cheat for sex. Look at your relationship and check to see if there isn't some unhappiness in that department. Has he mentioned this to you in the past and you ignored it? Maybe it's time you put a little more effort into keeping this aspect of your romance healthy and intact.
But there can be a lot more to it than just that. Some women have a way of unintentionally castrating a guy. How do they do that? By constantly being on his back about every little thing. When the guy starts to feel he can't do anything right, it becomes frustrating. And if he's being called an idiot, a jerk and a fool on top of it, there's a good chance he's not going to feel very good about you or the relationship.
If you really love him, you have to accept the flaws he has. Show him that you appreciate what he's done instead of badgering him for what he didn't do. Tell him you admire him for his qualities instead of throwing a barrage of insults at him.
If you don't, someone else might. And when he's in the company of that other woman who finds him funny and amusing, and who appreciates the little things he does, she'll become very appealing.
Talk it out with him and take in what he has to say about why he cheated. Getting defensive isn't going to help your relationship any, so listen carefully then get to work fixing what went wrong.
