A Chronological Approach Into Scarves
Many of you may not know that a scarf serves a multitude of purposes
. It can be used on the head for religious purposes, and could also be wrapped around the neck to keep a person warm. Whatever the reason for purchasing one, a personalised scarf is now one of the major items for purchase when it comes to the season of giving and receiving, Christmas.
A scarf comes under the guise of many names; it is also fondly referred to as a neck-wrap, muffler and even a warmstrangler. The scarf originated way back during the times of ancient Rome, where it was used to keep a person clean by wiping of sweat and grime during the balmy warm weather. They were also initially used by men as a means to be tied around the belt or across the neck. The fashion trend of scarves was later picked up by women, and the feminine version was made up of wool, pashmina and even high grade silk.
Personalised scarves, however, have begun to dominate the valleys of online commerce and even homemade designs. One will definitely find one or more festive scarves on display in the shopping outlets during Christmas-time, and can customise these further by adding the initials of the recipient of the personalised scarf. Scarves come in three generic shapes; they are triangular, square or rectangular in design.
The fever for a personalised scarf hit Europe in particular during the early 1900s, when the countries across the continent became engrossed with football fever. To this day, many clubs use scarves to depict various pictures of a football club. The custom scarf may contain, for example, the crest of the football club. On other occasions, one would be able to see the scarf showing the pictures of the players of a football team. Take for example the football club Manchester United; should you drop by to the Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, you will be able to see a number of salespeople selling football scarves that depict the famous slogan of its fans, Glory Glory Manchester United! amid other scarves that have photos of Wayne Rooney and Javier Chicarito Hernandez along its length.
The scarves for women, on the other hand, tend to showcase the designs of famous designer labels, as can be seen under the brands of Coach and Chanel, as well as Louis Vuitton. The said brands have their own logos, which will be printed onto the scarves, giving it a chic yet sophisticated look. Scarves which are hand-knitted are also a famous pick among items to be given as gifts on birthdays and occasions such as Easter and New Year.
