If you want the most cutting edge camera phone technology, the Sony Xperia S is the clear choice, but the Xperia U is ideal for those who occasionally use their camera phone but still want good quality results.

The touchscreen technology utilised by both the Sony Xperia S and the Sony Xperia U is actually rather similar. Both phones have LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreens, technology which is renowned for its display quality in terms of brightness, colour renderings and viewing angles. The difference between the screens of these phones lies in the size and resolution. The Sony Xperia S, being the higher end smartphone has the largest screen of the two, measuring up at 4.3 inches. It also has the highest resolution screen, at 720x 1280 making it capable of displaying HD content. The Sony Xperia U has a slightly smaller screen at 3.5 inches which is the same as the iPhone 4S. The resolution is also lower, but at 480x 854 it is still capable of displaying photos and videos is high quality. Just like the camera, because the Sony Xperia S is the higher end offering, it of course has a more appealing screen. However, this does not mean that the screen on the Sony Xperia U is by any means bad. In fact, as the budget handset in the range, it would actually have been one of the best screens available had it been available just a year ago.
