Prior to the actual procedure, you will be required to undergo a medical examination
as well as blood tests to ensure that breast implant surgery is safe for you. The tests are also done to identify any possible complicating factors that can affect the procedure, your eventual recovery and the overall result. As for the surgery itself, it usually lasts for one to two hours. This will be influenced by the incision type, implant pocket placement and the implant material. After the surgery, you will be required to return to your cosmetic surgeon for check up to monitor the results. Patients are generally able to resume normal activity in a week's time. During initial recovery, arm movement is encouraged to lessen pain and discomfort. The scars will last six weeks or longer and usually start to fade several months after the surgery.
