There are several ways to ruin your computer system and leaving it unprotected is one of them. A computer virus can do a lot of damage to your system before you even realize that it happened. Leaving your computer unprotected is a primary reason why most of the computer viruses get into your system. There are different types of computer viruses that invade your system. Scumware, Adware, Spyware, Trojan Horses, computer viruses and Worms. Each one attacks your system in a similar way.

Worms: These are computer viruses that can duplicate themselves to spread throughout the computer network. It can do damage such as completely use all your computer resources and in some cases it can shut down the entire system.

Computer Viruses: Quickly spreads from one computer to another computer. It starts by attaching and loading itself onto the computer without your knowledge. A computer virus can be duplicated once it has reached your system. It will use up all the memory in your computer which will freeze your system. Depending on the computer virus, you may lose your complete system or you may only see a little damage done.

Trojan Horses: The Trojan Horses attach like a computer virus but they cannot reproduce themselves. The Trojan Horses can manipulate you so you have no idea what it is trying to do. The main goal for the Trojan Horses is to obtain your personal information and use it without your knowledge.

Spyware: This software can continuously keep track of everything you do on the internet. It can learn your passwords, log in information, including your keywords typed. It then sends this information back to the creator so they can use the information without your permission.

Adware: The adware collects your information and then sends advertisements based on what you searched for. This information cannot really harm your system unless you click on a system that is not safe.

Scumware: This type of software can completely alter the way you view a website. You may not notice the changes if you have never viewed a particular website. If you click on advertisements it gives the scumware advertisers more traffic and promotes it.

All of these types of viruses can ruin your system in some way. The only way to stop them is to install antivirus software to protect you. Don't trust just any type of antivirus software because there are some out there that are contaminated. Make sure that you purchase a software that you actually have to install using a disk. This is safer than downloading the software protection. Viruses are developing everyday and until there is a software created to wipe them all out computer users around the world will need to learn how to avoid viruses.

If you do find a virus in your system you lose everything. Some have been able to recover their systems, or at least part of their system but this is not always the outcome. Purchasing protection is like giving yourself peace of mind.
