A Condensing Boiler Saves You Money
Many people have not made the switch over to the condensing boiler because they are intimidated by the price of the new devices
. The problem is that you need to stop and think about the amount of money that the new condensing boiler will save you over the next few months and years.
A condensing boiler does not take as much energy to heat the water in your home because it uses the exhaust gases that it creates to preheat the water entering the home. This heating with the exhaust gases will save you a lot more money than you realize. If you place a pot on the stove filled with water that is at room temperature the water will boil more rapidly than if you placed a pot of cold water on the same stove to boil. This principle is why the preheated water entering the condensing boiler reaches the correct temperature more rapidly than if the water was colder.
The condensing boiler takes up less space than the original version of these items. You do not need to have a separate room large enough to hold a massive holding tank like the older products required. The older tanks were generally placed in the attic or between the floor joists in the basement. This meant that the home had to keep the attic or the basement at a warmer temperature so that in the winter months the water in the tank did not freeze. This meant the heating cost for the home was higher because the extra rooms had to be heated. These extra rooms did not generally have adequate amounts of insulation so they were costly to heat in the winter.
A condensing boiler is built with the latest technological advances and the units do not burn as much fuel because they are designed to be more fuel efficient. This is the reason that rebates were offered to the home owners that made the switch from the older versions to the newer ones. Today you would be hard pressed to locate one of the older versions of these devices for sale in the United Kingdom.
Most of these units are the hot water on demand versions of these devices. This means that they do not have a holding tank of warm water that a burner keeps reheating in order to maintain a constant temperature. The water is heated when someone turns on a faucet to get hot water. It takes only moments for the water to be heated to the proper temperature and be delivered to the faucet that is opened. People can shower while people are doing dishes and the person in the shower will not be frozen by cold water coming from the tap.
The smaller units still require yearly maintenance because mineral deposits can still form on the working parts of the device and restrict the flow of water. When this happens the unit will not be as efficient or as productive as it was when it was first installed.
