A Ctel Test Tweak That's Guaranteed To Blow Your Mind!
I'm about to tell you a little story about the CTEL Exam.
Maybe it's one that you've heard before. In fact, if you found this page, then I'm willing to bet that it's one you're experiencing right now. It's a heartbreaking tale that many potential California English teachers learn of first-hand when attempting to gain their CLAD credential.
That's right - I'm talking about failing the CTEL exam. I had my first taste of what I thought was abysmal California Teacher of English Learners test failure. I was so confident that I had scored the passing mark that I even starting boasting to my friends about my future career as a highly paid California teacher to English language learners.
But that dream quickly evaporated once I opened my mailbox on that fateful day. My results were staring me right in the face - I had just missed the pass mark by a couple of points.
Disappointment Isn't The Word For My CTEL Exam Failure
After asking around, I learned that it's not just me who's experienced this kind of heartbreak - loads of my fellow test takers had endured the same kind of anguish of realizing that their ultimate career dreams were put off for another years.
And if that wasn't bad enough, some of our fellow reviewers have had it even worse. They are the ones who've invested tons of time and money into the exam - including purchasing every study guide in the bookstore - and have failed twice, even three times. It's such a crippling and discouraging experience that it makes one question whether they've really got what it takes to live out their dreams as a certified California teacher.
Let's face it - you want to move ahead with your teaching career. You want to start making a difference in the lives of students who are ready to learn English as a second language. You're primed for taking advantage of the teaching lifestyle...
...Not to mention that lucrative California teacher's salary!
My Controversial CTEL Study Guide Stance
What I'm about to say next might be considered a bit controversial - but I know that as a fellow CTEL exam taker, you completely understand. You don't want to spend the next few years studying for a test that's expensive, difficult and - if I'm frankly being honest here - doesn't even matter in the long run. A good teacher is determined by their enthusiasm, dedication to learning and passion - not by knowing the smallest details of stuffy academic educational theories!
That's why when I looked into taking the test again, I threw out those old study guides that were overstuffed with theories, CTEL exam case studies and educational hot topics. I thought to myself: "This is all material that I've learned while I was in school...
"...so why am I focusing on rehashing it all?"
It's that sudden mental tweak that led me to discover a CTEL Exam guide that focuses on how the actual exam works, rather than the material you've learnt while in school.
