A Day In The Life Of An Affiliate Marketer
Whatever you are doing in life, the 'typical day' just does not actually exist
. However, it is still a viable thing to do to look at what we are doing and what we should be doing to reach our goals. So let's imagine our affiliate marketer's day.
As an Internet entrepreneur you, as an affiliate marketer, have access to a wide range of services and tools.. So many that it is easy to get bogged down in detailed reports, interesting emails, websites that link to things that catch our interest. In fact it is amazing that we get anything useful done sometimes!
Let's identify an order in which to do things so that the vital work gets done - and we still have some 'me time' left for fun projects.
So what's the first priority? Customers! If you lose your customers then all you are left with is a pastime. So, if you have customer service email addresses, helpdesks or forums this should be your initial visit. They will tell you if there is a crucial site down, a link not performing or a download that wo won't. Get to work and sort out those problems first, you could be losing sales by the minute.
Next note and respond to all queries and comments. Your customers and prospects need to know you care.. When they do get a prompt and good response then they tell others driving more sales in your direction - at no extra cost. Neglect them at your peril. Disappointed customers and prospects are quicker to spread bad news than good.
Time to check out your website and services to see that all is well. You cannot rely on customers to spot and report everything that's not as you want it to be. If there are any problems get on to them straight away. Every site / blog etc. should have a thorough check each month. Check all links, images, videos and audios. Especially check the links to your Action pages - the link should work and so should the destination affiliate site! It's best to set yourself a calendar so spreading this out over the month, it seems a more manageable job that way.
OK, all working OK, then on to check out the results. Look at the reports from your affiliate accounts for the latest daily activity Do you see what you expect? You did do a little plan for each affiliate venture did didn't you? If not then do not be surprised if you get lost. If you have income or sales well above expectations what can you learn from this to apply to your other accounts? If they are down, are they only delayed or do you need to do something now to make an improvement?
Look up your website visitor stats and use that to calculate the visitor to sign-up and to sales ratios. Is this up to plan? Is it trending favorably? Have you got some A/B test capture pages running, what can you learn from this to improve your overall success?
It's time for your Facebook Pages, Twitter and other social media services. These services need daily attention to get the best effect. But do limit your access. Login no more than twice a day, do what needs to be done and then LOG OUT. There are few things more disruptive than a string of little pop up messages taking you away from what needs to be done.
From what you have done so far you may well have enough to fill the rest of your day. But if everything is running smoothly then it's time to start looking forwards and in an outward direction.
Do you have a new affilateship that you want to get set up? Use all the lessons you have learned from your regular daily analysis to make this one the best so far.
Do you belong to and participate in affiliate linked forum or chat room discussions? Keeping up to date on trends and new techniques will help you be successful. Taking part in discussions earns you respect and can be the key to inner circles of powerful affiliates.
Do you use Articles to call attention to your links? Get in the routine of writing an article one day and circulating it the next. This routine allows you a bit of time to review your article and improve on it after a good night's sleep.
And talking of sleep, you've earned a decent rest after a productive day as an affiliate marketer.
