A Different Experience On Our Monsoon Trip To Goa

Our intended visit to Goa was postponed a number of times due to one reason or the other

. This time we decided to visit Goa during monsoons. Actually summer is the peak season for a visit to this beach destination. For us it was bit difficult to travel during summer so we decided to enjoy beaches of Goa during monsoon, which is supposed to be an altogether different experience. We had heard that the destination is romantic during monsoon giving an altogether different touch to the vacations. We booked a room in one of the Goa hotels near beach to get indulged in the beauty of the Goan beaches.

The best thing about Goa is it is easily accessible and there are various means like rail, road and air to reach this place. We decided to reach Goa by bus to enjoy the greenery and the pleasure of grasping the road side beauty when it is raining. It is hardly eight hours by road from Pune to Goa. As we entered the Konkan region, the surrounding views were really romantic. We reached Margaon in the evening and took a mini bus to reach our hotel in Colva. The beach is just six km from Margaon and is beautified with white sand and coconut palms swaying on the rhythm of the coastal winds. This hotel was recommended by some of our colleagues who stayed here during their earlier trip to Goa. In Goa the accommodation is available in the form of hotels, lodges and cottages. These tourist cottages in Goa are cozy dwellings normally located on the beaches and are equipped with cooking and other necessary arrangements. The budget hotels in Goa are the ultimate means of luxurious stay at an affordable rate.

Next day in the morning after having Govan style breakfast, bread and omelets, we went out to breathe fresh and healthy air of the beach. Colva is the longest stretch and during monsoons you can watch the dance of the roaring waves till lands end. During monsoon there are only a few beach shacks open providing tacky Goan delicacies. There were many couples and youngsters playing beach games. After enjoying an entire day at the beach we returned to the hotel. Taking little rest we went out to see the nearby attractions of Colva. The most talked about attraction near Colva is the ancient church built in 1630. In the month of October this area is full of visitors who gather to celebrate the famous festival and a fair. The restaurants in Goa make a record business during this fairs and festivals.

We came to know that living in a cottage is even more enjoyable than the proper room accommodations. The vacation days went away at a faster pace and it was the time to pack our belongings. Even though it was our first vacation in Goa still we can advise the would be travelers to Goa that Goa is a fantastic destination and staying in the cottages located near the beaches is an addition to the charm of your stay.
