A Fall In Inflation- Are Prices Really Going Down?

Although the rate of inflation has fallen and the prices of various things are also

coming down but the main questions which the economists have in their minds is that are the prices of the things actually coming down or not.

According to the figures revealed by the Office for National Statistics that is ONS, in the month of April, the prices in Britain were higher just by 3 per cent than what the prices were during the same month in the year 2011. This rise of just 3 per cent has been the lowest one from the month of December in the year 2009.

Richard Driver, who works as an analyst with the foreign exchange firm Caxton FX was of the view that this kind of fall in the rate of inflation if a very good news of the people in the UK inspite of the fact that there has been the problem of recession in the economy of UK from past quite some time now.

Nevertheless, quite a lot of other economists are not much convinced and are not taking it in the form of good news.

Jason Conibear who is director of currency specialists, Cambridge Mercantile Group, had to say that this thing is going to give a lot of relief to the Bank of England and will be taken as a small ray of hope in the environment of economic trouble. he also added that although the prices are going down only but that how and till when does the consumer will start getting out of his shell may be in the time of over a month. While some of the groups are not even going to take notice.

In addition to this, Vince Smith-Hughes, retirement expert at Prudential had to say that the people who live on pension were those who were badly hit by inflation and to a very large extent. In comparison to the other category of people these are only the people who spend a major chunk of their earnings on products such as food and fuel.

The biggest level of rise in the prices which the consumers living in Britain have come face to face are the prices of housing products such as electricity that went up by 8.1 per cent, gas that went up by 15.4 per cent, food as well as gas that went up by 15. 4 per cent.
