A Few Pieces of Advice in Order to Keep Your Computer Run Fast
I know that many of you know these things already, but there are other people as well, "beginners", that I know they might use the following:
1. Format the partition C with Windows and then reinstall the operating system.
2. Clean the unit, the mouse, and dust the keyboard. For instance, my cooler from the video card got broken because of the dust and I had to change the card.
3. Delete entirely the files that you don't need any longer. When you "delete" a file, it still remains stored on the hard disk; to delete them entirely, there are specialized programs for this matter. Eraser is one of them.
4. Find and delete the duplicate files.
5. Follow "drive usage". WinDirStat can help you see what occupies so much space on the hard disk.
6. Organize "My Documents". Although not too many people keep something useful in this folder, there are also some who keep all sorts of things there; they have to be ordered, in categories, not dispersed.
7. Clean the "start-up", registries, cookies. You have to see what programs are running since starting up Windows and delete from the list the ones you don't need. After removing a program, game, go into "regedit", search and delete the registries of that program, game, whatever. CCleaner is a very useful program for all of these.
8. Remove the programs you don't need. Many people keep programs installed on their pc just because. "I might need it one day", although they are not of any use. I have always tried to find a "portable" version of the needed program, I mean a version that doesn't have to be installed, only unzipped or.I don't like to install many programs. For instance, a lot of people use Multi messenger, when they can log into messenger with several ID-s without using that program. I have written more about how you can do that.
9. Clean the desktop. A lot of people have the screen almost full of icons, folders, songs downloaded from the Internet.stuff. Try to keep only the important ones and these you can put below next to "Start". For instance, I have only one folder on the desktop where I keep my things for the blogs, I don't have "My Computer", "My Documents" and "Recycle Bin".
I used to see people that even had shortcuts in order to access the cd-rom; you have to be very lazy to have a shortcut for this. Thank God there isn't a shortcut to close your blinds.
Also, it's good to know how to clean your screen. Here are a few suggestions.
The LCD screen:
You need distilled water and a soft cotton cloth. The water needs to be sprayed on the cotton cloth. Don't put too much water on the cloth - it has to be moist, not wet. With the moist cloth, clean the screen with circular moves, without pressing too hard (the ideal pressure is that sufficient in order to keep the cloth on the screen). If you need to eliminate some persistent traces, accelerate the circular moves, without pressing harder.
