. It's a really sad thing, but true nonetheless. Why do you think this happens? Let me tell you why - it's because guitar is not a very easy instrument to learn and people generally underestimate it. Hopefully, this article will get you going in the right direction.

The very first thing to understand was already said: guitar is not easy and it won't be mastered overnight. It's not my intention to be negative here, I'm just trying to say that you must be prepared in order to be successful and that you must know what to expect.

In order to get somewhere, you will need dedication and consistency, especially when it comes to practice. Practice is definitely a recipe to success. I don't mean to scare you off, but yes, it will be a lot of hard work. However, it will also be fun, especially if you do it correctly. Just don't get discouraged too soon.

Lessons are of the utmost importance. When you're starting out, you need lessons. Not just any lessons, you need well structured and guided lessons. You see, learning a musical instrument, and guitar is not an exception, is a step-by-step process. There are no shortcuts, you have to go one step after the other. And for that you need some sort of guidance.

The main reason why so many beginners get discouraged is because they jump all over the place. They don't have any guidance, they get ahead of themselves, and they get discouraged. Also, they don't spend enough time on the basics, which are really important.

Proper guidance can save you a lot of frustration. Everything goes a lot smoother, if you know what you're doing and where you're going. I'm not saying that you need a private instructor, but you do need something. DVDs will do just fine.

Guitar can bring you hours and hours of joy and is definitely worthy the investment of your time. So get serious and get yourself some quality lessons. But whatever you do, don't get discouraged.
