There are so many educational excursions to choose from, and each one should help take you a step closer to understanding Dutch culture.

Amsterdammers love for film is quite evident in their lifestyle where many Amsterdammers continue to support independent movies and artists, and a trip to the cinema is a given every weekend. In fact, the love for film is so inculcated in their system that its no wonder that many major film festivals are held here such as the International Documentary Film Festival and Cinekid Festival. As said, theres a place in the heart of Amsterdammers for independent films, where many cinemas of historical significance such as Path Tuschinski, Het Ketelhuis, Pathe de Mune and Rialto Filmtheater showing local works all the time. They also have an impressive independent movie house ran by students, the Kriterion. Plus, theres the Film Museum in Vondelpark which shows many art films and classic movies all year round. The language barrier shouldnt be a problem since there are many cinemas offering Hollywood films although for a more in-depth experience, it is recommended that you sit through a local Dutch film to get a feel for their art. The love for movies is just so evident here that its easy to get intoxicated!
