. Nobody wants to stay for a long time in place where there is no light. A dark surrounding can often be very depressive. That is the difference between a blind person with a normal person. Imagine the mental pain that a blind person has to go through. They have to stay with the depressive black surrounding although their life. Blindness sometimes comes suddenly due to accidents, whereas sometimes it comes slowly. A person can do nothing if it is the first case. In the second case, people have got enough precaution that can be helpful. People must consult a doctor when they feel that they are having problem with their eyes. Doctors suggest glasses which can cure the eye problems slowly.

Nearly half of the world population wears glasses. But, wearing glasses is often very irritating. People experience scratchy feeling on places where the spectacle is set. Hard working is also difficult wearing glasses. In order to help people overcome that problem scientist invented contact lenses around 1887. Contact lenses were found to be very helpful. It worked same as that of a spectacle with much more comfort than its predecessor. People found it easier to work wearing a contact lens. However, the contact lenses that were discovered in 1887 were not at all comfortable. People felt like wearing two large pieces of glasses in their eyes. Slowly, with the advancement of technology, contact lenses took the size of the Iris. Heavy glass lens was replaced by thin, firm and durable plastic, which are used till today. People do not feel anything when wearing such a thin and light contact lens.

Nowadays, very few people wear glasses; everyone prefers contact lens. Some people now use glasses instead of contact lens as a commodity of fashion. However, contact lenses cost much more than that of glass spectacles. But people still buy contact lenses keeping in mind the comfort it provides. Even lenses with gorgeous designs are in use. These lenses cost much more than the ordinary contact lens.

There are certain disadvantages of a contact lens, though they do not cause much difficulty. Sometimes, the lens gets dry and fall off. Even, cleaning a contact lens is difficult. People should take proper care while cleaning a lens. Otherwise, it can get damaged. A small scratch on the lens can spoil the total lens. Scientists have already succeeded to overcome that problem. Contact lenses, nowadays, are used by most of the people. People who have to run around always for their job, players and athletes mainly use contact lens, as playing in a field with specs on is difficult as well as uncomfortable. A person working in a factory also finds using specs while giving physical labor. Stylish people use contact lenses with various designs, like their country flag, cartoon characters; some even use colored lenses.

Contact lenses are getting very popular among the young generation. They use lenses to change their eye color. Some use lenses of various colors to match with their dress color. Lenses have become one the latest trend among the young generation of today.
