A Gift From The Cosmos: Ancient Astronauts And Barbecue Sauce

This article believe it or not is about barbecue sauce

. If you watch a lot of cable or satellite tv, you know how many programs there are about ancient civilizations. The art and architecture, customs and taboos, food and drink, tools and utensils of our ancestors are discussed and explained, by numerous experts. Every new archeological discovery on land, or under the sea, is soon common knowledge, thanks to television. If you're a fan of these shows, you can bet that at least one of the explanations, from at least one of the experts, for whatever ancient ruin, monolith, or fossil being discussed, is that it was brought from outer space, by a more advanced civilization.

The pyramids of Egypt and Mexico, the cave drawings in southern France, the stone towers of Stonehenge, the geoglyphs on the Nazca desert in Peru, even the Great Wall of China, have all, at one time or another, been credited to ancient visitors from outer space, so why not barbecue sauce?

Nobody knows when, or where, barbecue sauce first appeared on our planet, but some experts believe it was almost immediately after the discovery of fire, which could also be a gift from the stars. Cooking over an open fire had to be learned, it didn't just happen. Did ancient visitors to earth teach our ancestors how to barbecue? And, if they did, isn't it logical they taught our forefathers how to grow and harvest the necessary vegetables and spices needed to prepare the barbecue sauce they would put on the food they were cooking? Is it just coincidence that every country and culture, that exists now, or existed in the past, has, or had, barbecue sauce, in one form or another?

Although much more research is needed, it is almost certain that Cro-Magnon cave dwellers learned to build, and use, rudimentary grills, as evidenced by the faint remains of certain cave drawings, in at least one location. If these drawings are genuine, doesn't it stand to reason the Cro-Magnon would soon become bored with the blandness of his grilled supper, and include barbecue sauce in his daily regimen? The solutions to these, and many other unsolved mysteries may soon be found, in the near future, by undiscovered discoveries, only time will tell. As for now, we can only wonder if ancient space travelers had a hand in the development of what we now know as barbecue sauce.
