General Pattern of Entrance Exam in India:
Most of the entrance exams conducted in India generally constitutes multiple choice questions which are often known as MCQ's in the academic language. Entrance exam in many institutes constitutes tow parts namely Pre and Main. While the former is objective type via which some candidates are short-listed which thereafter appear for Main exam. Successful candidates in Main exam are then called for interview which is often the final phase for admission to a related university or college. The Main exam generally constitutes essay type questions.
The purpose behind introducing this pattern was that it is not possible to analyze the capability of a candidate by the scores obtained during the school education which is conventionally based on long answer-papers. Also, it was said that there may be chances of error made by examiner and in a highly competitive environment, the difference of merely one or two marks can highly affect the career of a student. Thus, this probability of human error was removed by introducing a Special Examiner referred as OMR i.e. Optical Mark Recognition). It is a reading laser which came into existence in the year 2006.
