, SpiceJet has had a particularly fruitful year in 2012, and the airline has made sure that it passes on the rewards to those who deserve it, a gesture that has been appreciated by every proud Indian. The gesture that the airline has made towards the Indian Olympians who won medals at the London Olympics is seen as among the most respectable gestures that have been shown by any corporate towards the hard work that the sportspersons have put in their struggle for an Olympic medal.

The year has been a great one for India. The nation has had the most successful Olympics ever with the medals list having the highest number of medals there ever were. And while the entire nation was celebrating the achievements of our proud Olympians, SpiceJet jumped into the celebrations too, and made the mood even merrier for the winners by organizing a special felicitation ceremony for them. The icing on the cake was the announcement of the airline that each sportsperson who has won a medal at the London Olympics would be provided with free tickets on SpiceJet flights and that too for life.

The Chief Executive Officer of SpiceJet, Mr. Neil Mills, announced these special lifetime tickets for the medal winners Mary Kom, Gagan Narang, Yogeshwar Dutt, Saina Nehwal, Vijay Kumar, and Sushil Kumar, who all contributed in bringing home a total of six Olympic medals. By announcing these special tickets, the airline has forever etched its name on to the memories of India"s performance in the London Olympics.

The year has been a special one for SpiceJet too. Completing seven years of operations in the Indian aviation sector, the airline has become a favorite low cost airline with the Indian public and celebrated its 7th Anniversary in a special way by offering flight tickets to passengers at a unique base price of Rs. 777. The offer was in fact so popular with customers that the initial period of 77 minutes, that the special price was supposed to be offered for, had to be extended due to network congestion, thanks to the overwhelming response.

The airline which began operations only in 2005 has grown at a rapid pace and is today among the top rung airlines in the Indian subcontinent with a market share of over 17% at the end of just seven years. The airline operates flights to 35 cities in India as well as two international destinations and operates more than 270 flights every day.

SpiceJet is an airline that has managed to find success, and yet manages to keep the sentiments of the Indian passengers in mind at every step.
