A Gospel Snapshot! Why Don't Jews Believe In Jesus

? Why Aren't Jews Christians?

Jesus was a Jew. So why don't Jews believe in him? Could it be they look at us Christians and see we don't believe any different from the way they do?

(1) Most Christians today live in the past under Jewish law. This is the same way Jews live.

(2) Most Christians today live with their eyes glued toward the future, and the coming of Christ. This is the same way Jews live - although they're looking for the first coming, not the second. Most Christians today don't know gospel truth of grace and love.

Are Christians any different from Jews? If we both live by the same law, and both look to the future coming of Christ, what is the difference? It's especially awkward: we live by a law that was never meant for us (Rom 2:14). Plus, Paul says we should live by the New Testament only (II Cor 3:6).

When Satan blinds our minds to the power of the gospel, this is the case (II Cor 4:4). Most don't believe that Jesus fulfilled all the law and the prophets, as he said (Luke 24:25-27, 44-45). They look for Jesus to return and do all sorts of stuff, even defeat Satan. They don't believe he destroyed Satan's works the first time he came (I John 3:8). Peter calls Satan 'a roaring lion.' That's because Jesus declawed him and pulled out all his teeth, so all he can do is roar.

Jews know if Jesus didn't fulfill the prophets, he can't be Messiah. Why? Because the Messiah / Christ will fulfill the prophets.

We miss the gospel, and say Daniel is all about the future - the second coming. Is it? Daniel 9:24 prophesies of six things that will happen in the Messiah:

(1) transgression will be finished,

(2) sin will end,

(3) reconciliation for iniquity will be made,

(4) everlasting righteousness will come in,

(5) the prophecy and vision will be sealed,

(6) the Most Holy (the Savior/Messiah) will be anointed.

The gospel is clear: Jesus did all this during his first coming.

Hebrews 9:24 says, "Now once, in the end of the world, has Jesus appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself." Could it be that God has a different spiritual time clock than our earthly time clock? According to this verse, 'the end of the world' was the cross of Christ. It even started a new calendar.

Hear me! I am not saying there is nothing else to come. God is not a God of unfinished business. Jesus is coming back (Acts 1:11). But to claim he has a lot to do, and a lot of prophecy to fulfill when he returns is 'religious do-do.' It totally denies the finished work of the cross. It's humanistic theology. It's a lie of Satan. It is Satan who wants us to believe Jesus must return to defeat him!

Christians must see things right, and do as Jesus says: "Repent and believe the gospel" - the gospel of his finished work that must be preached in all the world before the end will come (Matt 24:14). Most of us don't understand the gospel, as Jesus says we MUST(Mat 13:19) - so how can we preach it?

It is strange: ANGELS will preach the gospel in the end times (Rev 14:6). Why are they doing OUR job for us? Is it because we don't believe? Jesus says our JOB is to believe (John 6:29). To believe it means to abide in it and live it.

"The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (John 1:17). Matthew says what is bound and loosed in heaven is bound and loosed on earth. The law was bound on earth, and nailed to Christ's cross (Col 2:14). It was abolished, and so was the enmity with God that began in the Garden. The law increased the enmity, but the cross abolished it (Eph 2:15).

The cross was future to Daniel! Most of what he wrote could just as well point to the cross as the future end times. Isn't it time we started repenting of our theologies, and became true believers? "Repent and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Repent means, 'change your mind about ALL you believe.'

After his resurrection Jesus says, "These are the things I spoke to you while I was still with you: ALL things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, concerning ME." Do you dare believe him? One of our greatest downfalls is being afraid to give Jesus too much credit. Is this really possible?
