A Group Of Rosella Birds Taught Me A Valuable Lesson Today
I just sat there in amazement watching them eat most of the apples in like ten minutes. They are such beautiful birds. I was just looking at all the colors they are gifted with. They are more like a rainbow bird to me. I was so happy for them to visit, they were there with me and then they were gone.
I am honored to see such a beautiful group of birds and how lucky they are to have eaten such a feast of apples. I don't think they like my fig trees or else I would have welcomed them on my trees. I am around 1 hour away from the city of Melbourne by car and I am grateful I am away from the congestion of man and to be able to see some of God's other creations who, under civilization's crushing advance, are gradually disappearing from the earth. It is a loss that cannot even be measure. How sad.
I was thinking that nature is so marvelous. The birds always have enough to eat, they don't work so hard and they are free to do what they want to do. Neither do they feel inferior to their fellow bird mates. I have close friends that call themselves silly names just because they can't remember where their car keys are or wallet. Neither do you see the mother bird not encourage her young to not fly out of the nest. I sit back and marvel at the birds. They are born they depend of their mother until they can fly and on their own they are. They survive, gather food, mate, they tolerate all weather conditions without any complaints. The birds are successful in their lifestyle. You hardly ever see one bird fight with another in a group. But us humans, are effected by what others say or do to us. Now if you are clumsy and forget things, like the car keys or where you put your wallet, that doesn't mean you are less deserving of the good things in life. It is merely part of the total you.
But others, you think, are smarter, younger, harder working, or more educated or better looking than you. "They deserve success more than I do" you think. But the characteristics of others remain irrelevant to your success. While the tendency to compare ourselves to others may be overwhelming, it is not against them we compete. I just wish people were like the rosellas, enjoy the moment, work together for the greater good and not compare with each other. I'm sure the rosellas don't compare and wonder, which birdy mate ate the most apples...
The real problem is that people do not utilize all the potential they possess. Success is not something that must be deserved or earned. The only qualification for success is that YOU BE YOU, that you use whatever combination of talent you possess to the fullest extent possible. Do you deserve success? Of course. You deserve no less. Just like the birds deserve to be here as well and enjoy all the fruits of the earth.
