A Guaranteed Way To Pass Any Interview With Quick Fire Strategies
Over the last 17 years I've sat on both sides of the interview desk; both as an interviewer and an interviewee
. Having this insight into the interview process has helped me to help hundreds of people be successful in their job application.
This article, therefore, will reveal the secrets and tips that you must employ when you attend any interview. To begin with you must carry out loads of research that is relevant to the company you are trying to join. Here's a list of things to research:
1. What is their mission, goal or objective? If it is written down, learn it off by heart. If you get chance at the interview to recite it, do so.
2. What are the company's values? Again, at the interview, recite them.
3. What are the company's products and what is there Unique Selling Point (USP)? Regardless of whether you are applying for a job at the front desk, or as an Executive Director, know these two facts.
4. Know key people, places, locations and dates of the organisations. For example, who is/are the Directors? Where are the main office's or distribution bases? When was the company incorporated?
5. What is 'great' about the company?
By finding out all of the above facts you will be learning 'key' information about the company that will cover any of the following interview questions:
Q. What do you know about our company?
Q. What do we do?
Q. What are our company's strengths?
Q. Who is the Chief Executive of this company?
Q. What is our mission?
It is also very important that you get a copy of the Job Description and Person Specification for the role that you are applying for. Why? Simply because this is how 99% of interviewers will gather their questions. So, if the person specification states - "Candidate must have experience of customer service and dealing with customer complaints in a professional manner", you can guarantee there will be a question at the interview that goes along the lines of:
"Can you give us an example of where you have carried out excellent customer service? What did you do, why did you do it and what was the result?"
Finally, always structure your responses to 'example based' interview questions using the STAR method. These are:
S - Describe the SITUATION.
T - Describe the TASK that had to be done.
A - Describe what ACTION you and others took.
R - DESCRIBE what the end result was.
Any interview can be passed with ease. Whilst this is a bold statement to make, it is those candidates who follow the above tips and carry out a number of mock interviews, before the real thing, that go on to be successful.
