But there is no need to worry as you can very well do a pedicure at the comforts of your own home. Here are some guidelines that you can follow so as to do a home pedicure.

First of all use a skin friendly nail polish remover to get rid of all the nail polish on your toenails. After this soak your feet in warm water for about 10-15 minutes,so as to relax and soften your feet.If your feet are severely cracked , then place them in water for an extended period of 30 minutes.

The water should be comfortably warm and not too hot.You can add your favorite essential oils and bath salts to this water.A best choice will be the addition of half a cup of Epsom salt and a couple of drops of peppermint extract.Add a cup of milk to the water so as to loosen the dead skin cells .

The next step is to exfoliate your feet with a scrub to remove the dead skin cells. After this use a pumice stone to massage your feet and to reduce calluses.

Rinse your feet again with warm water and pat dry them with a towel.Apply cuticle cream to soften your cuticles.Do not clip your cuticles ,but push them back with an orange stick.

Massage and moisturize your feet and calves thoroughly with a foot cream. This will smoothen and relax them.Do take proper care in massaging your heels so as to prevent the occurrence of dry and cracked heels.

Cut your toenails with a clipper and file them according to your desired shape. It is advisable to clip your toenails straight to prevent the formation of ingrown toe nails.

Application of nail polish is the next step.Separate your toes and place cotton balls in between them so as to avoid the spreading of nail polish.Apply the nail polish only after you have applied the base coat.

Set the nail polish by applying a top coat of clear polish.Remove the excess nail polish on the skin with the help of a cotton swab dipped in acetone.Follow the above said steps to treat your feet to the wonderful benefits of a home pedicure.
