This breed of dog is a small breed and they feature a bushy beard and moustache. The eyebrows on this breed are often very prominent. This breed is often groomed so that the beard and the moustache are accentuated. The coat on this dog is silky and long and it has a slight curl in it. The coat is commonly a salt and pepper colour however they can also be black, black and silver or all white. This breed has an undercoat that is a soft colour.

This breed tends to be classed as a perky and happy little breed. These dogs commonly have a personality which is smart, obedient and energetic. It is not actually that uncommon for this breed to have behaviours problems but this can be avoided through the use of proper training. Its important that dogs especially this breed are socialised from the stage of them being a young puppy.

This breed has the tendency to bark loudly and they are prone to frequent barking. The bark that this breed tends to have is not like that of a small breed, as it tends to be high pitched and sounds rather yappy. This breed is said to have a bark that belies its size and this makes the breed low and more intimidating.
