A Guide to Healthier Living with Omega-3 Fatty Acids

A Guide to Healthier Living with Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Doctors all agree, fish provide dozens of minerals and nutrients that are beneficial to our bodies. This comes as great relief to those of us that enjoy fish. One thing doctors did not originally understand was the benefit of Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish; they are apparently very useful to the human body.

Probably the greatest benefit of eating fish is the reduced risk for heart trouble; all thanks to the Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish. There are many benefits to eating fish, but the reduced risk of heart disease is the best benefit of all. Experiment with different fish to see what you like best; fortunately all fish have at least some Omega-3 fatty acids.

Salmon, tuna and cod are all high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids not only reduce risk for heart disease and stroke; they can also greatly reduce your risk for Alzheimer's. Of course there are still doctors and health agencies that say no medical research has proven anything; though the American Heart Association still recommends consuming fish for the fatty acid.

It doesn't take much Omega-3 to capture the health benefits; studies show that 2 servings per week is enough for most people. Omega-3 fatty acids have also been shown to reduce joint inflammation and problems. Research is still ongoing, so Omega-3 fatty acids may be even more useful than expected.

Don't like fish? Try experimenting with other fish recipes and you will likely find something to suit your tastes. If not there are always Omega-3 fatty acid supplement pills that you can take. They eliminate your need to eat fish, because they're concentrated forms of the Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish.
