The human brain is a comprehensive group of cells and about fifty million neurons that labour with the greatest complexity to keep the body in good health. Thus having a healthier brain will lead to having a healthier body.

A human brain is thought to be five times the size of other mammals with similar body size. In human beings, the forebrain and frontal lobes are particularly expanded because these parts are the ones in charge of self-discipline, planning and analysis.

It is through the early stages of our lifetime that the development of the brain and the central nervous system is crucial. As the body grows older, the body's ability to take in nutrients is weakened, and so it becomes a lot harder for the body to guard against illnesses, and stresses. At the same time with our aging process, we also lose neurons, or what are usually known as (brain cells).


Other body cells have the ability to regenerate, but neurons (brain cells) do not regenerate nor do they replicate. So as we get older the brain diminishes in neurons because of this, the brain is not capable of functioning as well as when it was younger. So in order to keep the brain functioning as best as possible, we have to put into action some things to do and some things not to do. This way we can assist our brain to preserve its fitness and strength.

Things to do:

Make sure that you exercise frequently. Try to take up energetic activities such as dancing, tennis and such like. These kinds of pastimes will help you to keep up your vitality. Try new things so that you can learn from such experiences firsthand. Do not cut yourself off from your social groups. The more contact you have with like minded people the happier your life will be.

A balanced diet will certainly keep you strong and healthy. So, as much as possible, try to eat foods that are full of antioxidants and vitamins. You should also get enough rest and sleep. You need to sleep for at least six to eight hours a day to get maximum benefit.

Things not to do:

Try not to drink too much alcohol, and also try not to smoke too much. Do not take illegal drugs!

If you can, try not to live alone. And do not put off going out with your family and friends whenever you can Never stop yourself from trying new things. But one import fact is that to have a healthy mind, you need to have a positive outlook. So improve your brain by having a positive outlook on life. Good Luck!
