The best time to visit this city is during the fall, when rainfall is minimal and the temperature is low. Summer is the wrong season to be in Taipei as the weather is unbearably hot and sticky. From June to October, the island is prone to typhoons and flooding, so it is best to avoid a vacation during these months. However, there are plenty of tourists at this time, so it is cheaper. December and January are known to be the driest months in Taipei, so for those who hate rain, this is the time to visit.


Most international flights arrive in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, while domestic flights to Taipei enter Songshan Airport. Cheap flights to Taipei are usually easy to get. Flights like China Airlines and Eva Airways offers cheap tickets to Taipei. You can obtain cheap airfares in the month of May.


This city is the cultural center of the country. To a tourist, it has a plethora of festivals and intriguing events to offer. One such event is the world famous Lantern Festival, which has attracted media interest from all over. It involves the lighting of sky lanterns, supplemented by stunning laser displays. The view, as you can guess, is breathtaking. Another festival worth witnessing is the Ghost Festival. Festivities include releasing small boats and lanterns on water in order to guide lost ghosts. Festivals such as Tomb-Sweeping Day, Mid Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat festival are also held in the city.


If you are a fan of historic structures, you should check out the Red House Theater. Every corner of the island is filled with places for shopping. The Eastern District comprises of major shopping malls whereas the Western District includes small shopping centers. Shilin Night Market is the most famous and possibly the most crowded night market in the city. From delicious meals to trendy clothes and accessories, there is nothing that cannot be found here. One of the oldest shopping areas is Ximending. The newly popular Xinyi District too has amazing shopping venues.


The city has a whole lot of interesting places that attract tourists. Most popular among these is Maokong Gondola, which is one of the cheapest gondolas. Next in line is the National Palace Museum, with a fascinating range of historic treasures. For the religious souls, there is the Long Shan Temple. It is often referred to as the "meeting place of the Gods". If you are looking for a laid back and rural environment, try traveling on the Ping Hsi Branch Railway Line and enjoy the scenic landscape.
