A Holistic Approach To Anti-aging
Finding the fountain of youth and stopping the clock on aging is not as hard as you might think
. Everything that you do in life has a profound effect on how well you age. Each day make a point to exercise, relax and eat a well-balanced diet that will provide your body with the essential nutrients that you not only deserve, but need.
A regular exercise routine is a must in the fight against aging. Not only does exercise help to balance the hormones that are key in the aging process, it also helps to keep your body composition in control. You will have youthful muscle mass and your body will detoxify the impurities that contribute to the aging process.
To maximize the anti-aging effects of exercise, it is important for you to be active at least three to five days a week. Make sure your routine includes cardio, stretching and weight training.
If you really want to see the short term and long-term benefits of your exercise program, then pay attention to your diet. High-quality foods will help to further detoxify your body, strengthen it and keep it in tip top shape. Your meals should consist of whole foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables and lean organic meats such as fish. These foods will help support your anti-aging personal regimen.
With a whole foods diet, inflammation and oxidation are kept at a minimum and your skin and hair will take on new levels of vibrancy. To further fight inflammation, be sure your diet is made up of foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, tuna and flaxseed. These foods are known for their anti-inflammatory effects and for their benefits to skin and hair.
One of the most important and usually the most enjoyable things to do to fight aging is relaxation. Because stress is a key contributor to aging, it is important that you take time out for yourself everyday. Worrying about the past or future only intensifies any tension you might already be suffering from; instead, try to make it a priority to focus on the moment.
When we get stressed about events we have no control over, our bodies go into a fight or flight mode that throws off our hormones and other biochemical responses. An important tool to utilize when you feel overwhelmed or stressed out is your breath.
First pay attention to your breathing to see its pace. Whether you are breathing fast or slowly, start regulating it consciously and begin to breathe in steady even breaths. The interesting thing is that when you begin to focus on your breath, your mind is taken away from the stress and chaos that was overwhelming you. By focusing on your breathing, your stress levels are cut down almost immediately.
Yoga is an excellent form of both meditation and exercise as it is a moving meditation that allows you to control the pace of your breath and to take your mind to a place of peace and calm.
