A Home for Newlyweds

Set up your new home, not in a serious or pensive mood, but something entirely opposite to it i.e. with lot of carefree, fun-frolicked moments. Enjoy and cherish each step that you take around the house. Put all the experience of your life into your new world, and give your best effort to make the house look lively, homely, warm and comfortable.

Spare the expenses for the first few months of your married life. Don't buy unnecessary decorative things for your house. Articles of everyday use, like the washing machine, refrigerator, and maybe a music system can be bought for the purpose they serve. Visit the nearby Dollar store or a small supermarket. You would be able to buy small things like buckets, tubs, doormats, spatulas, small cooking utensils meant for two etc. at reasonable rates. No matter what you buy, always buy a thing of quality, it will last long.

The tradition of bridal shower started for women who got married to men their families didn't approve of. The dowry was refused to such brides. Good friends and some family members, along with neighbors offered gifts in a playful manner, to the newlyweds. These gifts were to be used in setting up a new home. The tradition still continues.

According to a Chinese tradition, the bridegroom's family sends a formal letter of confirmation of marriage arrangements to the bride's family along with many gifts. This is actually to inform the bride's family about the quantity of gifts. The gifts from bride's side will contain everything, from a heavy necklace to a small pillow cover. The gifts will come along with the bride after the marriage or they will be sent well before the marriage.

One should always begin a new life on a good note. Pay all the debts before you get married. Don't let money get in the way of your happiness. Don't throw lavish parties to show off your new home. Keep a reign check on what all your heart wants to add to the house. Make do with an old fashioned kitchen in the house. Wait few months before you go in for renovations on a big way. Enjoy your life with a feeling of security with some amount of money kept back for emergency purpose.

Look after your guests with great care. Be a good host but not an expensive one. Be well dressed, but don't run for a laundry person every second day. Keep the house neat and clean no need for a maid in a home of two people.
