Chess is among the board games that can only be played by two people. Every players goal is to checkmate the king piece of the opponent where it has no room for moving without being attacked or captured. The game includes a checkered chessboard with 64 squares in an 8 by 8 grid. Each player has a set of eight pawns, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, one king, and one queen a total of 16 pieces for every player. Both players take turns in moving a piece in accordance with the game rules but not during castling where two pieces are allowed to move. It is a practice that the players with light colored pieces make the opening move and the corresponding piece can land on an empty square or on an enemy occupied provided that the piece can capture the opponents. The World Chess Federation has the task of maintaining the games rules and regulations.
