Choose the furnishings for your room with an enthusiastic and watchful eye. Having large furniture in your room can leave limited space for you to move about. You must not choose a table that hurts your knees every time you walk past it! Also, you should place useful pieces of furniture. For instance, it may not always be important to keep a table or a couch at the end of your bed, because you might not need it always.

The flooring that you choose also hold a lot of importance. To make your room appear larger, go for marble flooring with light shaded marble rather than wooden flooring. The heavily pigmented wood will give a 'compact' and a dense look to your bedroom.

As for the walls, select lighter shades to paint them. Light colored walls will give the bedroom a more roomy appearance and will cancel the walls-enclosing-on-you effect.

For wall hangings, make sure you do not choose a lot of them. A lot of wall hangings in a tiny room will make it appear over burdened and thus, small. One or two wall hangings in a tiny room would be enough. When you fix them on the wall them, make sure you keep them halfway down the ceiling. It will give an illusion of a ceiling that is tall. It is also a good option to use mirrors in a few places. Fix up a mirror on the wall and a shelf beside it to keep your things. This is how full sized mirrors on a wall will leave you the space engaged by your dressing table.

Move away furniture that is kept around the pathways. Knocking in on the furniture that hinders your usual walkway will not only be a source of frustration, but it will also make your room look tinier.
