We all need to get away from it all every so often.

For those who have to work during the week, or even maintain a hectic existence at home, the thought of being away on a vacation break developing a tan by the pool, being entertained and hand-waited on or even enjoying the local culture in some faraway location is an appealing one for sure.

Throw in the prospect of some serious summer sun in place of the drab and dreary grey aspect of a Northern European mid-season and the whole prospect starts to transform itself from the desirable into the irresistible.

A holiday, or vacation, can take on a variety of forms. For some the idea of erecting a tent in the middle of a muddy field full of cows and mysterious holes in the ground is the perfect antidote to their hectic way of life back home. For others it is a caravan, whether mobile or static, with the freedom to cook when hungry and to wash ones own clothes in the sink when they are in need of washing. Indeed todays caravans, with all their electronic gadgets, en suite bathrooms and oodles of space are a much different affair to the caravans of old tiny, without washing or WC facilities and with a bench for a bed.

For others still it is a drive to the seaside, a modest hotel by the Eastbourne seafront and evenings playing gaming machines or eating chips or seafood whilst strolling along the esplanade, staring out to sea in the direction of France without ever really managing to catch sight of it. The helter skelter and the amusement arcade, the gentle waft of fresh fish and the sun beating down upon the warm sand come together to create a family vacation that is unique to its kind.

What constitutes a luxury lifestyle is, of course, wholly a question of definition, not to mention one of personal taste. Typically one would picture an exotic location, maybe an island, with a hotel or apartment steeped in comfort, cocktails by the outdoor swimming pool, palm trees and cloudless skies, at a resort that can promise you good weather, beautiful sun a scene of untroubled, restful and very well-earned relaxation.

Whatever your take on luxury vacations you owe it to yourself to go find that special place and to do whatever it takes to get away there and to live just a little.
