A Monopoly On All The Stations

Its true that since the dreaded credit crunch and the ensuing recession

, holidaying in the UK has been reborn and somewhat romanticised but what effect has this had on people and do the majority of us hanker after something more?

The weather plays a big part in where we go on holiday, with a lot of us hoping that it will be full of sunshine, a far cry from the unpredictable seasons in the UK and others hoping for great snow for that perfect and exhilarating winter sports holiday. Whatever it is youre looking for, the reality might be that a trip to the English seaside or a weekend break to a Scottish city is what the bank account will stretch to.

If this is the case, dont despair because the holiday is all geared up to make sure that theres loads on offer when it comes to UK breaks, it really can be that romantic and idyllic image that we imagine British holidays were back in the good old days. It makes sense that rail travel has risen in popularity too, alongside the great British holiday, as the best way to get to that romantic Scottish city or that quaint seaside town. If youre thinking of doing a bit of a rail tour around the UK, just do it, its a great way to see the country to live in it really is surprising whats on our own doorstep.

Rail travel is so simple now and can also be really inexpensive if you book in advance and if youre the adventurous type and dont fancy planning too far ahead, just remember that all major railway stations have lockers and storage so you can turn up, store your luggage for the day and go off exploring whichever great city youre in. Now if thats not Famous Five enough for you, we dont know what is.

The beauty of travelling around the UK and not trekking to some far flung exotic destination is that you can change your plans at the last minute or you can just not make it any at all why not travel to London or Manchester or Bristol, leave your bags at the station in the left luggage office, which have the monopoly on all stations, for a few pounds and jet off for a sightseeing day, travelling light but knowing that you can grab your bags at any time and either stay in that city for the night or hop on the train to the next place...in fact you could do a Monopoly tour.
