A Need For Forestry Trucks

Most people view logging as something detrimental

. Well, this is mostly true. Logging as we all know utilizes trees. Of course, trees are an essential part of the ecosystem and something that should not be taken out or it would be catastrophic. So, we need to stop it, right? Then again, without the logs produced from the logging industry, we wouldnt have pillars for our homes and most of the infrastructure we see today, would we?

Logs, before becoming the elegant dining table we gather upon every night, need to be processed first. Yet, before they could be processed by the lumber mills, these logs went through a one heck of a ride first. Previous means of transportation required rivers by which the logs can easily go downstream just by following the current. Yet due to ecological concerns, this method was no longer encouraged. As a solution, forestry trucks were introduced. These sturdy vehicles are the vessels that deliver the foundations of your dream house straight from the mountains. Of course as we know, mountain forests are not allowed to have navigable roads as decreed by the constitution. Most of the time, forestry trucks take one hellish ride due to the conditions off-road. Hence, one can expect that they are tough and will take a pounding.

Once out of the mountains, forestry trucks face several restrictions especially when carrying loads of logs. For instance, forestry trucks are only allowed to be 30.5 meters in length and 3.8 meters in with when they are on public roads and highways. It is also a safety consideration when these trucks are overloaded. So in order to avoid this, forestry trucks are only allowed to have their loads at a height of 4.8 meters. It may seem to be tight but such restrictions are necessary to insure traffic safety for it could not be denied that logging and transporting logs are 21 times more hazardous than any other job.

Further restrictions are specified towards the weight of the both the truck and its load. For a forestry truck to be allowed on the road, at a maximum, it needs to weigh 65,000 GVW. Anything more than this would be illegal and negligence could be filed. Authorities also require a 5 meter interaxle spacing. Of course, these are just for those sunny days when the weather is nice. For seasons such as winter, forestry trucks are required to have mapped route by which they are allowed to pass. Cases of slippery roads causing lives and millions of property damage are common during these treacherous weather conditions. So it goes without saying that proper safety procedures and preemptive measures should always be applied to these giant trucks.

Recent developments which were made for safe log transport show how much effort people are pouring into securing this basic resource that we all need. Hence, everyone should always remember that every tree that which is cut down is of utmost importance. So it follows that the logs taken from them are not to be wasted.
