There are probably several fitness programs at your local community center and at the workout gyms in your area. Don't be afraid to take some time to find the program that is best for you! Don't try to increase the duration or intensity of your workouts every day. Constantly increasing the intensity of your workouts won't actually build up your muscles. Instead your muscles will only get torn up. This is because exercise works by tearing down your muscles so that they can heal to be even stronger than before. You need to give your muscles time to heal after they have been worked on. Alternate your workouts. Alternate between one "hard" day and one "easy" day. This helps you get the exercise you want while still allowing your muscles time to heal.


Take part in an athletic activity that you like. Dance classes are a great way to work out, burn calories and have fun (all at the same time). Water aerobics classes are also good. Learn how to do rock climbing or go for a hike. These exercises will allow you to have lots of fun while also helping you get fit. You stand a better chance of getting fit if you have fun with your exercise routine. If you don't have any fun during your workout you won't keep doing it. How productive will that be?
