A Psychic Talks About The Art Of Allowing

The art of allowing is something that most of us have heard and yet, at times, it remains this illusive concept. How many times have you wondered how to just allow something? We are raised in such an action based society that allowing seems lazy, pointless and ineffective. Allowing feels, at first, like it has no action behind it. So, in essence, to a lot of us, it feels wrong. I was talking to a client the other day about allowing something into her life. She kept repeating, "HOW?".

To answer that, we must first define the meaning of the word "allow". Most definitions are: "to permit something to happen or to exist". Some of you will say that "permit" and "allow" are essentially the same concept. Some of you will may say there is a vast difference. Certain words can have a marked impact on how we actually feel about something. Look at, and feel on an emotional level, the difference in the following statements:

I allow a great relationship into my life with a wonderful person who is everything I could ever wish or ask for.

I give myself permission to have a great relationship in my life with a wonderful person who is everything I could ever wish or ask for.

Did you feel any difference? Was one more power-full to you than the other? Did you feel more "oomph" behind one? Then THAT is your word. That is the word you will use instead of the other. I, personally, like the word "allow". If you like the word "permit", then simply replace all my "allows" with "permits". Forevermore, when you see the word "allow", replace it with "permit".

Now that you know which word to use, you can start applying it. Allow yourself to start small. Start with allowing yourself to fully enjoy an experience that you are having later in the day or week. If you have plans to meet a friend for dinner, use the art of allowing by allowing yourself to take that time out of the whole day to just shut off all the negative thoughts and feelings. Allow yourself that time to just fully enjoy your friend, the food, the drinks, the ambiance, the energy, the conversation, etc. Even smaller than that, allow yourself to smile at one stranger today. Allow yourself to just enjoy that thirty minute show that you love so much without any distractions. Allow yourself to eat one extra cookie. Allow yourself to be smiled at by someone today. Your desire to be happy and successful is there for a reason. Start anywhere, start small, start somewhere!

The art of allowing has to start with us giving ourselves permission to have, do or be what we say we want. If we cannot believe something can happen to or for us, then how can it possibly happen? Just because you have not yet had something does not mean it is never coming. Belief systems can be changed. There are tools at your disposal. The art of allowing is one of those tools. The first step in anything new coming to you is you giving yourself permission to have it. It really is that simple.
