A Quick Look At The Different Types Of Fertilizers
People, who do not have lawns or those with poor looking lawns
, may not understand the importance of taking effort to make one lovely. In fact, such people may not know that even grass needs to have fertilizer for it to grow properly. Although you may not be among these people, but I am sure that just like I was at a particular time in my life, you may not know what types of fertilizers are available at your disposal. In this article, I would like to take a look at the two different types: organic fertilizers and the synthetic fertilizers. Definitely, each of these types has its own advantages and disadvantages. In fact, I am sure that you have heard of some of them yourself.
Organic Fertilizers
These types of fertilizer are those which are made in a natural fashion, all from matter that was previously alive, or those which are generated by living things. A good example is the fertilizer that is collected from animal waste, decomposing plants and so on. They can be in liquid form or solid form. For example, if you use animal urine as lawn fertilizer you shall be using the organic type, but in liquid form. On the other hand, if you use the manure from compost heaps, then you shall be using the organic type but in solid form.
Advantages
One of the advantages of organic manure over synthetic manure is that you can produce it at home by yourself. You do not have to rely on a profit-seeking to do it for you.
Another advantage of the organic fertilizers is that they do not harm the environment unlike their synthetic counterpart.
The third reason why one should prefer the organic over the synthetic is that it helps to improve the soil texture.
Synthetic Fertilizers
These are those which come about as a result of artificial chemical process designed to come up with a specific combination of chemicals. Again, this type can occur in its liquid from or in its solid form. The solid form usually comes in the form of crystals and granules. On the other hand, the liquid form usually comes in the form of a concentrated solution and it applied on the lawn by spraying it over the lawn.
Advantages
The first advantage of the synthetic fertilizers is that since the combination of the chemicals is done with precision, it is easy to know exactly what to expect.
The second advantage of the synthetic fertilizer over the organic fertilizer is that it is not bulky. This type of fertilizer being in high concentration, can be compressed into very small granules and hence minimize on space.
Conclusion
Generally, people are moving more and more towards the use of organic fertilizer. In fact, there are an increased number of companies which are producing the products in a large scale and for commercial purposes.
