A South East Asian Clam Delicacy Whipped Up Easily

. This seafood can be incorporated in almost all kinds of cuisine but tastes brilliant when incorporated in South East Asian cuisine. Filipino dishes, especially soups use a lot of clams in them. Cooking the clams in a Filipino style can be challenging but is completely worth it because it is so tasty.

One such tasty dish is Halaan Soup. Clam in Filipino is Halaan. This delicious and healthy clam soup requires:

1 bundle of chili leaves

1 thumb-sized, thinly sliced piece of ginger


1 sliced tomato

3 cloves of crushed garlic

1 sliced onion

1 teaspoon of ground pepper

2 cups of water or soup from cooking rice

Cooking oil or Butter

3 tablespoons of fish sauce

1 small, diagonally sliced green papaya

1 pound of fresh clams

To prepare this clams recipe in Filipino style, first, wash the clams properly under running water and then put them in a container filled with salt water and let the clams soak for a few hours or maybe overnight. This way, you can clean the clams thoroughly and remove all the salt from it. After that, heat butter and saut ginger, garlic and onion till translucent, in a large saucepan. Then, add the tomatoes and saut them for around three minutes.

To this, add the clams and fish sauce and saut for about two minutes. Pour in some water, cover the saucepan and bring the broth to a boil. After the broth boils, add the green papayas and simmer for five minutes or till the papayas are tender. Do not overcook them. Season the soup with pepper and salt. Continue to cook the broth over high flame till the clams open. Add the chili leaves and turn off the gas. Discard any unopened clams and serve this piping hot.

This Filipino style clam recipe is very easy to make and if nutritious and tasty. This recipe is very fresh and made with few ingredients. These ingredients are easily available.
