There are numerous entertainment events that are also free, such as the National Theatre, the Cathedral of St. Martin-in-the-Fieldsonon or the Royal Theatre. To eat, just get to the Borough Market and take advantage of free tasting and nibbles or sit down for a meal at one of the typical bars in London where prices are affordable and you will probably be able to watch one of the British sports tours or England rugby tour on TV.

Even housing could be very cheap if you look up people on the internet, those who make their gardens available for the tents of tourists to stay. They charge a small fee for the use of their garden for tents and sometimes will advertise this fact on the internet in classified ads. They sometimes do it during events such as the Olympics. Failing that, you could research some special offers off of the internet and grab yourself a hotel at a bargain price. It will take a lot of research and flexibility with your time or arrival, departure and length of stay, but if you are tenacious and really stick to it, you may find a good price for a short hotel stay.

The only limitation to your costs is price. It is quite easy to spend a full day in the Tate Modern gallery, but if you only have a limited time, then it is difficult, but so long as you are not foolish with your money and you do a little research first, then there is no reason why a trip to London should cost you an awful lot of money.
