It's already an established fact that local business owners have to think real hard and weigh all of their option before investing some money into a local marketing strategy. This is because just like any small business, money doesn't come easily in their doorsteps.

But what's important here of course is the fact that they do realize that running a marketing strategy is important and so, the only question really here is to what marketing strategy local business owners should employ.

But of course, one page advertisements are a little bit expensive. Furthermore, aside from the ad space, you'll have to spend on a graphic designer's fee for your ad design.

Local search marketing on the other hand doesn't require you to spend money for the local search result subscription. Once you've had your subscription in place, you've got yourself a marketing plan up and running.

This marketing strategy though comes with a catch, page ranks dictates the success of your marketing plan so you have to invest on making your page rank better. Luckily, you have to options to achieve better ranks, it's either you hire a professional online marketer or do the work by yourself.

In short, both marketing strategies have costs involved in employing. While yellow pages require investments on the short run, local search marketing investment in the long run. The fact however that you don't have to spend money to achieve better ranks in local search results offer a cheap alternative to paying a professional to do it for you.
