The Exhilarating Dungeon Adventure Board Game
Adventure board games make players depict unique characters that can acquire gears, augment its abilities and attributes as the game carries on. The Dungeon, released in 1975, was innovated by Gary Gygax, David R Megarry, Steve Winter, and S. Schwab. The game comprises of a vinyl cloth foldable game board, a pair of six-sided dice, a rulebook, and four colored Parcheesi-style playing pieces (green, white, blue, and red). Included in the game which fascinates players is a range of monster and treasure cards which is colored black and white on the front and at the back are color coded representing the different six increasing dungeon levels: gold for first, orange for second, red for third, magenta for fourth, green for fifth, and blue for sixth. Every players objective is to accumulate the most treasures and conquer the monster to be the first to return to the dungeon entrance. There have been later versions like the Dungeon and Dragons.
The Exigent Game of Chess
Chess is one of the oldest board games and can only accommodate two players. Every players goal is to checkmate the king piece of the opponent where it has no room for moving without being attacked or captured. The game is set in a checked game board eight squares horizontal and eight squares vertical summing up a total of 64 squares. Every player has 16 pieces for him to play the game which comprise of two rooks, eight pawns, two knights, one king, two bishops, and one queen. The players take alternate turns in moving their pieces and it should be noted that only one piece can be moved at a time with an exception on castling where movements of two pieces are allowed. It is a practice that the players with light colored pieces make the opening move and the corresponding piece can land on an empty square or on an enemy occupied provided that the piece can capture the opponents. The rules and regulations of the game chess is maintained by the World Chess Federation.
Board Games Using Physical Skills
Board games of physical skills or dexterity games are those that require physical abilities, coordination, and mental skills to win the game. They put players to an ultimate test since they require discretion, agility, and coordination. The 140 year old Crokinole innovated by Eckhardt Wettlaufer of Canada is an exemplar on this type of games. The game which is a combination of English, French, East Indian, and German games consists of a board with three concentric rings corresponding to certain points and checker sized disks. In the game, which is played by two teams and each team consists of two to four players, the checker sized disks are tapped or flipped from the outer edge of the gaming board and with the intention of hitting the boards center but to hit the opponents disks that are already on the board otherwise the turn is considered foul. Some other board games that require physical skills are Subboteo, Kerplunk, Carabande, Twister, Jenga, Perfection, Topple, Carrom, and other board games that use physical skills.
